Celtics hold off Mavericks comeback attempt in Game 3

Boston now just two wins away from championship

The Boston Celtics held off a spirited comeback attempt from the Dallas Mavericks to win Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals 106-98 on Thursday night. The Celtics now hold a 3-0 lead in the series and are just two wins away from their 18th NBA championship.

The Mavericks trailed by 17 points in the fourth quarter but cut the deficit to just three with less than two minutes remaining. However, the Celtics made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Jaylen Brown added 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Marcus Smart had 18 points and 7 assists.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Spencer Dinwiddie added 19 points and Jalen Brunson had 15 points.

The Celtics will have a chance to close out the series in Game 4 on Saturday night in Dallas.
